On November 9, 2002 the Prez, Alaska and Party Car visited with Peter and Karen Ely at the Pasadena Model Railroad Club in Alhambra, Ca.  While the CEO had e-mailed with Peter and the Alaska had attended the NMRA convention in Saint Louis in 2001, the CEO had never had the honor of meeting him.
Later on the afternoon of November 9th the Prez, Alaska and Party Car visited the Santa Susana Pacific RR shown above.  The Prez was the Guest of Walt Griffin shown on the left. Walt had visited Alaska this past summer and provided the group with a Sierra RR 2-6-6-2 for power.  The Prez and CEO were very impressed with how smooth the railroad operated.  After saying farewell to Walt, the Alaska was once again loaded into it's black box for the return back up the ALCAN.

Rrtuen to Model Railroading in Alaska.
On November 8, 2002 the Prez and Alaska visited George Cooks Railroad in Riverside, California.  George is another long time friend of the CEO.
Early on the morning of October 31st, the Prez and Alaska toured Gary Gutierrez's Miami (Arizona) division of the Southern Pacific in Tucson.  Gary's railroad had recently been moved from a different location and was still in the phase of some reconstruction.  Shown above, the Alaska was coupled to the rear of one of the SP's crack passenger train and given a tour of the railroad.  For a while it was feared that the Prez had gotten lost until he was found "visiting" with one of the local senoritas.
Later on the evening of October 30th, the Prez took the Alaska and Party Car to visit Tucson & Southwestern Railroad.  The Prez was once again the special guest of Pete Sheakley and along with the Party Car were given the grand tour of the railroad.  The Prez was quite impressed in all the improvements since his previous visit back on November 24, 1999.
Following the Wednesday Lunch Bunch, the Alaska and Prez were invited to Ron Kuykendall's  who has two Sud Pacifico Con Otros RRs.  Yes, two separate and I must say highly detailed railroads with one located in a bedroom of his home and one in an out building.  Shown above, the Alaska was coupled to the rear of a crack passenger train and given the grand tour of the railroad.
On October 30th, the Prez was a guest at the Tucson, Wednesday Lunch Bunch where he visited with Jack Debolt, and discussed the merits of modeling in Sn3.  The lunch was held at a Chinese Restaurant and everything went well, until the Prez went looking for the eggs in the birds nest soup.  This was followed with an incident with the waitress and some problem over the Prez wishing to exercise his fortune cookie message.
On October 29, 2002 the Alaska entourage visited Joe Duda's Hoot and Toot RR in Tucson, Arizona.  Again this was the second visit for the Alaska, but the first for the Party Car.  Shown above, a special train was operated for the visitors, pulled by leased locomotive Santa Fe 3233.  As the Prez is deathly afraid of rattle snakes, he would not leave the safety of the Alaska.
On the evening of October 24, 2002 the Alaska, Prez and Party Car visited Jerry Ritter's Toklat Northern in Fairfax, Virginia.  This was the second visit for the Alaska and Prez, but the first visit for the Party Car and CEO.  While the two CEO's were busy discussing the possible interchange of cars, the Prez was carousing and looking for his old flame Hillary.  On board the Party Car are the regular CSWRR Operating Crews who were hosted by the CEO and thrilled to be making the trip.

In the Fall of 2002 the Alaska with the Prez on board and the Party Car accompanied the CEO on a trip around the Lower 48.  As usual, the Prez created problems from the start by insisting that he was not about to travel in a black box.  "The Alaska has wheels, and it would roll down the Highway on it's wheels". So as we were leaving, the Alaska was bobbling along behind.  Well this worked for only the first couple feet as the neighbors dog Harmony, mistook the Alaska for a rat and pounced on it.  Had it not been for the quick action of some guy named Barney who was sleeping in the bushes it may well have been the end of the Prez.  After the Harmony incident, the Prez was willing to stay in his Black Box and be quiet
